How much space does the ac system cool up to?
Who to contact about question regarding our AC system?
What makes SeaWater Pro’s marine air conditioners different from other systems?
Can I run a SeaWater Pro marine A/C system on battery or solar power?
Yes, you can. SeaWater Pro offers a 12V DC-powered marine A/C system specifically designed to operate efficiently on battery banks or solar systems. This makes it a perfect solution for boats without a generator or for those who want to reduce reliance on shore power. No soft start required and variable speed operation helps conserve energy.
What size marine air conditioner do I need for my boat?
The appropriate size depends on your cabin’s square footage, insulation, and ventilation. As a general guide:
- 5,000 BTU for cabins up to ~100 sq ft
- 9,000–12,000 BTU for 100–250 sq ft
- 12,000+ BTU for large salons or combined spaces
The Seawater Pro 12 volt DC Marine Air conditioner is capable of operating at 5,000, 9,000, and 12,000 BTU modes. You can select the appropriate setting for the space in which it will be installed. This setting is chosen through the Pro Display control.
Is the SeaWater Pro A/C compatible with my watermaker?
The water maker and air conditioner systems are independent of one another. They are both designed for efficiency in easy use, making them complementary to each other.
How do SeaWater Pro marine air conditioners work?
Our systems use a reverse-cycle refrigeration process. The unit absorbs heat from your cabin and transfers it into seawater via a heat exchanger. In heating mode, the process is reversed to warm the air. The result is quiet, efficient climate control for year-round comfort.
Can I install the system myself?
Yes. SeaWater Pro’s systems are DIY-friendly and come with detailed installation instructions. Most installations require basic plumbing and electrical knowledge. If you're not comfortable with marine systems, professional installation is always a good option.
How quiet is the SeaWater Pro marine A/C unit?
Our units are engineered for quiet operation using soft-start brushless DC compressors and variable speed technology. They are significantly quieter than older compressor-based units, making them ideal for sleeping cabins or enclosed pilothouses. The system components are housed in a a powder-coated aluminum cladding, creating a sound barrier.
Can I use my marine A/C while underway?
Yes. As long as the unit is powered and the seawater intake is unobstructed, the A/C can run while underway. This is especially useful for cooling cabins before anchoring or while traveling in hot climates.
What is the average power draw of your 12V marine A/C?
Power usage varies depending on the model and speed setting. A 12V 12,000 BTU unit may draw around 50–70 amps at peak, but soft-start and speed control features allow for significant energy savings. Our system is optimized for solar and lithium battery applications. For a sleeping cabin, we’ve measured average 250 amp hour use over night in 5,000 BTU mode.
Does the system include heating?
Yes, all SeaWater Pro marine air conditioners are reverse-cycle, which means they provide both cooling and heating. You can switch between modes using the Pro Display control, making it suitable for all climates.
How do I maintain my marine air conditioner?
We recommend:
- Cleaning the seawater strainer regularly
- Rinsing or replacing air filters every few months
- Inspecting ductwork and condensate drain lines
- Winterizing the system with propylene glycol during the off-season
Routine checks help extend the life of your system and ensure peak performance.
How long do SeaWater Pro marine air conditioners last?
With proper care and regular maintenance, our marine A/C units typically last 8–15 years. Saltwater exposure and usage patterns can affect lifespan, but our systems are built with high-quality, corrosion-resistant components for longevity.
Can I retrofit this A/C system into my existing boat?
Yes. Our compact, modular units are ideal for retrofits. Flexible ducting and simplified power requirements make it easy to install in older vessels without major modifications.
What’s included with the system?
Each SeaWater Pro marine A/C unit includes:
